3. Battle Setup - Make the Army Lists

The two players should agree on a points value to play for.  This is done in the same way as for casual games, except that the agreed-upon points value is then modified for each player according to the handicaps of each player.

A player's handicap is their number of campaign game losses minus their number of wins, multiplied by 25.  If a player has won 4 games and lost 2, therefore, his handicap will be -50.

Before making your army list, add your handicap value to the number of points you can field. The minumum/maximum values for your army are based on the agreed-upon points value before you apply the handicap.

For example, if you and your opponent agree on an 2000-point game, and his handicap is -50 and yours is 0, you may field up to 2000 points and he may field up to 1950. The opponent must field units that correspond to the minimums and maximums for 2000 points, even though he has a handicapped limit of 1950.

Construct your army list before determining the place of battle.  This adds an additional burden to the general, as he must now anticipate the terrain where the battle will occur.

To save time on game day, you may wish to prepare a number of army lists for various terrain types and points values ahead of time.

An army of chariots will decimate the enemy army if the general can attack it on flat ground such as desert flats or grassy plains, but if it gets driven into rough or forested terrain, there will be serious problems!  A more balanced army is better for unpredictable circumstances, but will be at a disadvantage if the enemy succeeds in choosing place of battle.

Remember that you may only select those magic items you have won the right to field as part of your army list.
